Proposed Coal Plant in Ozamiz Junked

Image
At the height of the former political regime, it was almost impossible to oppose the implementation of the proposed coal power plant. The coal plant was bound to become a reality. Local citizens and cause oriented enviromental groups went in the  open and brave enough to show their opposition.  Before that fateful night, a public blog quoted herein was also posted openly supporting the protest to stop and  ban the proposed coalfired power plan in Ozamiz. Several legal laws and authorities were cited to show that such project is not justified and runs counter to existing government policies declaring Mt. Malindang and its surrounding vicinity are protected natural forest and habitat.  By the turn of that event, after almost a year, victory was achieved.  The coal power plant was shelved. Ban Coal-Fired Power Plant Near Mt. Malindang

Image
The local government units and government officials of Misamis Occidental especially in Ozamiz City must realize that, by looking back at the slow phase of industrialization and commercial developments in the City several decades ago is actually a blessing in disguise for the ozamiznons who still enjoy the fresh and unpolluted air and environment in the city and province as a whole. the paramount obligation of the government is to protect the life and nature of Mt. Malindang and its surroundings. The mountain with its natural beauty and resources has gifted and given all ozamiznons and misamisnons, their children and future generations with so much and abundant supply of food, water and shelter. Rather than seek and invite the hazards of putting up a coal-fired power plant in Ozamiz and in any area of Mt. Malindang, the economic benefit from the coal power plant does not justify the vast detriment and destruction of Mt. Malindang's natural resources and surroundings like...

The Jimenez 18th Century Cathedral

Image
Amazing historical landmark, a national heritage of misamisnons. an old  catholic faith born since the late 18th century. It was an experience sitting foot within the four corners of this church located in the small town of Jimenez during the holy week of 2015. In fact, after more than 40 years  the last time i've seen such a beautiful hispanic influence.  A few kilometer from Jimenez, are the towns of Clarin and Tudela where post-war modern designed catholic churches still standing so beautiful today as in yesterday.   Tudela Clarin
